Top Landmarks and Attractions

Kaleiçi

Kaleiçi is situated a bit east of the city's center, and runs parallel to the Mediterranean coast. It is a beautiful and historical town that offers unprecedented views of the lovely harbor. Surrounded by Byzantine era walls, the Old City is an architectural wonder. Several shops and cafés flank the famous Taksim Square, which is a halal-friendly area where many Muslim customs are observed.

Interesting points of attraction are Hadrian's Gate, the Iskele Mosque, the Clock Tower and the Yacht Harbour. The area is also home to various halal-friendly accommodations, halal restaurants and shopping outlets to suit the needs of all Muslim visitors.

Konyaalti Beach is one of the city's best beaches. The beach has a picnic area, waterpark, and the celebrated amusement area called Aqualand. The AkturLunapark Antalya and the Antalya Aquarium are ideal places to visit when spending time at Konyaalti Beach, particularly for those with youngsters. At the city's North end, the 400 acre Antalya Zoo and Nature Park beckon to travelers as well.

Aspendos

Situated on the outskirts of the city are the ancient Perge Ruins, a Roman landmark and terrific place to sight see and spend time. Other ruins near the city that vacationers should definitely explore are the Aspendos, Demre-Myra and the Termessos.

The Aspendos is an ancient Roman theater built in early 176 A.D. and this outstanding structure was designed and created by Zeno, the son of Theodorius, to include row seating crafted from marble and able to accommodate up to 15,000 patrons. Several halal restaurants are also situated in the vicinity of Aspendos, ensuring that Muslim travelers need not worry about dining hassles when visiting the region.

The Antalya Archaeological Museum

The Antalya Archaeological Museum is one of the country's largest museums and one of the city's most prominent landmarks. Located in Antalya's Konyaalti district, it is home to an expansive, 75,000 square foot open-air gallery and 13 exhibition halls.

More than 5,000 creations and artifacts are displayed in these halls, which showcase decades of art from the Pamphylia and Mediterranean regions. In 1922, the Antalya Museum was opened to the public and in 1988 it won the European Council Special Prize.
