Halal North Cyprus Holidays

North Cyprus is an outstanding area for a holiday, simply because it is perhaps one of the most unique destinations in the world. Peppered with ancient ruins, sprawling beaches, brilliant mountain landscapes and welcoming locals, it offers something for essentially everyone.

Technically a part of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, this northeastern region of the island features untouched areas such as the Karpaz Peninsula and well-preserved structures, such as the Crusader castles. There are a wealth of sites to make you feel as if you have stepped back in time, as well as mountains to climb, nesting turtles to watch, and archaeological wonders to explore. Below are some of the most interesting things to do and see in North Cyprus:

Weather

North Cyprus enjoys ideal Mediterranean weather for the majority of the year, which is a favourite characteristic of the area according to visitors and locals alike. With an average of more than 300 days of sunshine per year, and temperatures ranging from 30 to 38°C during summer and 20°C during winter, North Cyprus is a fail safe destination any time of year.

Activities and Attractions

You may wish to start your holiday visiting places such as Büyükkonuk, the region’s first eco-village.Here, you can learn to make local foods and crafts, as well as hear about the area’s culture and heritage. Below are some other exceptional places to visit and enjoy.

Karpaz Peninsula

Take a leisurely stroll along the undeveloped, panorama of the Karpaz Peninsula, which spans 5km and is also referred to by locals as Golden Sands Beach. You can easily spend an entire morning or afternoon in this glorious area.

View the Roman Ruins of Salamis

Salamis is an expansive archaeological site dating back three centuries. Wander amidst this seaside landmark of Roman ruins, which has hardly changed in 3000 years.

Kyrenia Range

Add a day of exploring to your holiday by visiting the Crusader castles, such as Kantara, Buffavento and St. Hilarion. All three are located in the Kyrenia Range and each one is intriguing and mysterious in its own way.

Visit Turtle Beach

Several species of turtles thrive in North Cyprus, and depending on the time of year you visit, you may be able to watch hatching turtle eggs. Whether or not you see any hatching eggs, however, Turtle Beach is a remarkable place to visit when holidaying in North Cyprus.

Indulge in a Boat Tour

Enjoy an excursion from Kyrenia harbour when visiting North Cyprus. Such an outing is the perfect way to participate in a broad range of water sports or simply relax whilst exploring the Kyrenia coastline.

The Sea Gate

The Sea Gate is another landmark no traveller should miss. The second of two main entrances to North Cyprus, this beautiful site is currently under restoration, and can be easily viewed from several directions. Its iron portcullis and ironclad wooden doors are impressive sites for anyone with even a slight interest in Medieval history.

The Church of Saint Mamas

An odd mixture of Byzantine and Gothic styles, The Church of Saint Mamas is often called one of the most unusual on the island. Its columns, windows, altar and dome create a unique structure that is virtually in a class by itself.

Shopping and Dining

The NoSheen Indian Restaurant is located on Lapta Road and offers a warm welcome for locals and travellers alike. This establishment has a great variety of fish, lamb, chicken, as well as plenty of vegetarian choices.

Located on the main street of Ozankoy, The Dream Castle Restaurant is an eatery constructed to look like a castle, as its name implies.
