This is a resort that can only be reached by sea-plane or sailing boat, a fact that only seems to reinforce the feeling it gives you of simply being out of this world. The One & Only Reethi Rah - Reethi Rah means "beautiful island" - is a place of sublime beauty, and of supreme and exclusive luxury, amid the natural tropical magic of the Maldives. It is a select, all-villa retreat, which offers exceptional privacy, and unrivalled pampering, style, glamour and sophistication.

The main hotel building displays a refined design in Balinese style, with space, privacy and luxury as the watchwords throughout. Visitors are enchanted as soon as they arrive at the reception area, an open pavilion resembling a Balinese palace, with a cool black polished terrazzo floor, inset with teak, and sculpted wood columns (the actual check-in has been done on board the private yacht). Other unique features include a superb black slate lap pool, built out over the ocean, and a canal constructed to allow the sea to flow through the island.

Villas

All 130 beach and water villas are spacious, with high ceilings, bamboo arches and beautifully finished Balinese-inspired interiors, and feature traditional thatching by local craftsmen, using palm leaves. All are built to ensure the utmost privacy, and feature 30-inch LCD TV, CD/DVD player with surround sound, espresso machine, Internet access, safe, massive terrazzo bath, and include services of a villa host.

Measuring 135 square metres, private stretch of beach, 26 square metre veranda with table and chairs, 1 king-size bed or 2 queen beds, bathroom with double sink and oversized bathtub, indoor and outdoor shower.

Measuring 149 square metres, built on stilts over lagoon and reached by walkways, 1 king-size or 2 queen beds, spacious outer deck with netted wraparound hammock.
